In this research, in order to evaluate more detailed curve performance, we proposed a method to identify the contact point between the wheel and the rail. In this method, we have succeeded in specifying the contact point by measuring the remarkable strain occurring between the web part and the rim part of the wheel using a special wheel set called PQ wheel set. As a result, it becomes possible to evaluate the curve performance in detail from the wheel diameter difference. In particular, this method is different from the existing specific method, since it can be put to practical use on business lines, it can contribute to improvement of running safety more practically.
