The vertical rigidity of the suspension of a freight vehicle is set to be rigid according to heavy load conditions. Safety is improved by suppressing the roll while softening the vertical rigidity under light load conditions. Therefore, a new anti-rolling device was proposed. The composition of components for a new anti-rolling device was researched. A CFRP torsion-bar was made for freight cars in scale model, and performance tests of the CFRP torsion bar were conducted. This study reports the composition of the proposed anti-rolling device and the construction of a CFRP torsion bar for the scale model.
