Abstract

Shinkansen vehicle is required to apply brake force stably for maintaining its reliability. In case of an earthquake, the Shinkansen vehicle must be stopped immediately and safely. In this research, an axle control type brake control device is developed by utilizing on-off type electro-pneumatic relay valves. It is confirmed that the developed brake control device is able to stop the Shinkansen vehicle within the planned distance. The development will be continued to minimize the stopping distance when wheel slide occurs in the condition of wet track.
