Abstract

In this paper, the evaluation method of running safety during an earthquake for a railway vehicle including characteristics of seismic waveforms and structures is proposed. Firstly, the characteristics of seismic track vibration encompassing earthquakes and structures are derived based on the measured data of past earthquakes and wide range of natural period of structure. Then, the running safety index for seismic wave is calculated from the characteristics of seismic track vibration and the running safety limit of the railway vehicle for sinusoidal oscillation. It is confirmed that the running safety index is in a harmonic relationship with the estimated derailment occurrence probability during earthquakes using the method describing in the past paper.
