Abstract
710 water mills existed in the southern part of the Musashino area in 1897. However, remaining while being operated now is only Minegishi water mill in Mitaka city. This water mill operated for about 160 years by being set up in around 1805 until 1965. 14 stamp mills, 2 mills, and the Yakko sieve and elevators, etc. are preserved here. This water mill is specified for the Tokyo material folk customs cultural asset in 1998. We want to clarify the structures and traits of old machines such as water involved in preservation and the succession of the water mill culture now.
