Abstract
Japan is said to have an aging society. Assistive devices are therefore necessary to support the independence of elderly people. This study evaluated an Arm-Balancer arm support system developed for use by elderly or handicapped people without free arm motion. Measurements of rotational arm movement using a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor revealed the possibility of evaluating arm movement using the Arm-Balancer.
