On-demand classes using video viewing has been spreading due to COVID-19 pandemic. While on-demand classes have the advantage of allowing large groups of students to attend classes in flexible environment, compared to face-to-face classes, it is pointed out that they are less effective for learning because students cannot maintain concentration during the class. In this study, brain activity in the prefrontal cortex of video viewing learners was measured in real time using wearable NIRS (Near-InfraRed Spectroscopy) to evaluate their state of concentration in the class. The arousal index based on the NIRS signal was developed and used. As a result, it was shown that the monitoring of the learner's concentration level in real time using the wearable NIRS. We also proposed a method to make the on-demand class more effective based on the results of brain activity evaluation.
