In engineering education, the specialized books and the technical documents are used as reference materials and are often perceived as difficult to understand by the beginning students at engineering. Home appliances are considered to be of interest to beginning students because they are familiar to them, and they have opportunities to use them themselves. Therefore, we have used the home appliances (especially IH stoves) as "the teaching materials" in classes for first-year students at engineering universities, who are beginning engineering students, and as science events for children, explaining disassembly and mechanisms. In particular, the comparison of products with the same specifications and manufacturer but different sales years has proven to provide not only engineering learning but also learning necessary for engineers in companies, such as marketing and cost concepts.
