Hands-on education of machine learning and device control using autonomous robot cars

Abstract

We held experiential education using an autonomous robot car (JetBot) equipped with a single-board computer (Jetson Nano) for electrical and electronic engineering university students to understand the outline of image recognition and equipment control using AI. Students experienced controlling equipment to perform basic autonomous operations such as collision avoidance, object detection, tracking, and automatic driving operations. They also learned the basics of machine learning and deep learning mechanisms and equipment control. We summarized the results obtained through these experiential learning activities. Future challenges and prospects were reported.
