Aircraft Pilot Education before and during the World War II as seen in the “Pilot Notebook”

Abstract

Aircraft flying by mechanical power have developed since the first flight by Wright Brothers in 1903. During the 1930s and 1940s, many types of aircraft were developed and manufactured around the world. Accompanying this trend, pilots of aircraft are required to have piloting skills suitable for their purposes. According to the contents described in the " Pilot notebook " used for the training and education of aircraft pilots before and during the World War II in Japan, this paper introduces the training records on the maneuvering skills required for aircraft pilots at that time.
