In this research, the aspect ratio of lamina and the laminar angel, which is a slant angle of a half lamina from the midrib to its side edge, of eight plant leaves with pinnate venation were measured to investigate their mechanical contribution to the rigidity of a leaf regarded as a structure with wide and flat surface. From the data of leaves with different aspect ratio, it was clarified that the plant leaves with the different aspect ratio adopted the different strategies to support own bodies: slender leaves keep their own body by relatively large laminar angle and midrib stiffness, although wide leaves raise their rigidity due to relatively large lamina stiffness.
