Abstract
Based on cultural schema theory, the process of being socialized to a particular culture is referred to as "acquiring cultural-schemas." By following the acquired cultural-schemas, we can take appropriate cognitive and behavioral styles that are held by most members of our culture. On the other hand, difficulties in intercultural communication are mainly due to our lack of the cultural-schemas of the other culture. This article gives an outline of the concept "schema" and discusses how culture affects our cognition and behavior through the schemas.
