Abstract
The dietary survey of home meal of elementary school children (148 children) at Kimpo-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture, was conducted for three days in July, 1971.
All the intake of nutrients calculated from the home menus was lower than their recommended allowances, and esgecially animal protein, calcium and vitamin A seemed to be remarkably deficient. The lowest intake of them was always observed in mountainous district. The average intake of individual food group was also lower than the recommended standard for 11 years old children. It was observed that most of the children took little or none of milk group, and a little amount of fruits, green or yellow vegetables and cereals. The lower intake of most food groups was observed, and consequently, the positive correlation was obtained between calorie and other nutrients.
Great attention should be drawn to give an adequate guidance of their dietary habit in near future.
