Reconstruction of the tongue and oral floor using sensory forearm flap

Abstract

Three reconstructed cases using the sensory forearm flap after resection of tongue carcinomas are presented. Return of sensation was achieved within 7, 5 and 3 months respectively. As a sensory forearm flap produces rapid and sure sensory return even in the irradiated graft bed, the flap contributes good postoperative functional rehabilitation of swallowing and speech.
