Abstract
A case of adenosquamous carcinoma arising in the maxillary sinus is reported with keratin immunohistochemical evaluations.
Adenosquamous carcinoma is a very rare carcinoma of the maxillary sinus. Three cases of adenosquamous carcinoma arising in the maxillary sinus have been reported since 1966. Histopathologically, tumor tissue composes of tubular carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma cells. Tissue specimens were evaluated with monoclonal antibody (K4, K7, K8, K10, K13, K17, K18, K19, K20, KL1, and K8.12) using the ABC method. Tubular carcinoma cells were positive with K7, K8, K18, K19, KL1, and K8.12 and squamous cell carcinoma cells were strongly positive with K7, K10, KL1, and K8.12 and weakly positive with K4 and K18. Tubular carcinoma cells formed keratin pairs of K8-18, and squamous cell carcinoma cells formed keratin pairs of K7-17.
