The use of the fibrin adhesive (Beriplast^® P) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Abstract

This report describes a clinical application of fibrin adhesive (Beriplast^®P), which consists of high concentrated human fibrinogen, thrombin, and blood coagulation factor XIII. This fibrin adhesive was used for the purpose of hemostasis, adhesion, packing, and protection of the wound in 78 cases of various operations in the oral and maxillofacial region. The clinical results were good in 73 cases, and poor in 5 cases. The side effects were not observed in any of the cases in which the fibrin adhesive was employed.
The results support the fact that Beriplast^®P is useful for the oral and maxillofacial surgery.
