Clinical effect of Midecamycin acetate on the oral infections

Abstract
The results of clinical studies on MOM for oral use, performed at 22 institutes in this country, are summarized in this protocol. The conclusions obtained is as follows:
1) Clinical efficacy of MOM oral administration was evaluated in 113 patients with oral infectious disease, and 82.3% responded to the drug.
2) Clinical efficacy of MOM at a daily dose of 600 mg was 83.2% based on committee-judgement and 80.0% based on doctors' judgement.
3) MOM shows antibacterial activity against aerobes, anaerobes and mixed infection cases.
4) In 4 of the 160 cases treated, gastrointestinal symptoms were appeared.
5) From the above results, it was concluded that MOM was a useful new antibiotic for the treatment of oral infections.
