Abstract
This study was carried out in order to investigate the effects of analgesics on threshold values evaluated by electrical teeth stimulation using an autoelectric dental pulp tester.
The subjects were 12 volunteers, including 6 males and 6 females, all in good health (ages, 23 to 28 years old) . A healthy central maxillary incisor tooth was chosen for evaluation. Three kinds of drugs were administered, floctafenine, loxoprofen sodium and placebo (lactose) . Threshold values were examined before and at 15 and 30 min, and 1 and 3 h after oral administration. Results obtained were as follows.
1) The threshold values of floctafenine at 1 h were higher than those of the same drug before administration (p<0.10) and placebo at 1 h (p<0.05) .
2) Oral administration of loxoprofen sodium and placebo did not have significant effects on the dental pulp threshold values.
