Analysis of Acne Condition by HSV Color System Conversion of Ultraviolet Photographs

Abstract

A self-medication approach for acne, involving the use of a smartphone equipped with a UV light to capture face images, is proposed. When these UV images are converted to the HSV color space, the keratin plugs exhibit significantly low saturation, particularly red keratin plugs that show high hue value. Adaptive binarization is applied to count the number of keratin plugs. A decrease in the number of plugs, observed as a result of the cleansing effect, can serve as motivation for the patient to continue treatment.
