Abstract
A Q-switched ruby laser pulse is focused on various targets (Al, Be, C, Cu, Mo, Ti and W) to produce multiply-charged ions. The maximum energy is found to be proportional to Φ4/9, Φ is the laser intensity. Also, the energy distributions of multiply-charged ions are analyzed by means of a 127° electrostatic analyzer.
