Abstract
Equilibrium and stability of a toroidal closed-line configuration with finite l=±1 distortion is investigated theoretically based on new ordering assumptions. A second order nonlinear differential equation describing equilibrium is derived, and its analytical solution is obtained for the parabolic pressure profile. As the plasma pressure increases, the cross section of the plasma column elongates to the vertical direction. The growth rate for m=1 displacement is given.
