Introduction: We report a case of lower-extremity paralysis following preoperative arterial embolisation for a metastatic spinal tumour.
Case Report: An 80-year-old man was diagnosed with metastatic spinal cord compression of prostate cancer and underwent intercostal artery embolisation for spinal metastasis. After embolisation, he developed both lower limb paralysis and analgesia below the nipple. He was diagnosed with spinal cord infarction after embolization.
Conclusions: Preoperative arterial embolisation is expected to reduce perioperative risks, such as intraoperative bleeding, but may cause serious neurological complications; therefore, indications should be carefully considered.
