Processing of Copper Materials by Blue Diode Laser and Processing Quality Evaluations

Abstract

The spread of xEVs is expected to increase due to the green growth strategy associated with carbon neutrality. Blue diode lasers are expected to be a very effective solution to the surging demand for processing motors, batteries and inverters where many copper materials are used. In this technical review, examples of copper welding and copper coating using the blue diode laser of Shimadzu Corporation are presented, and the results of verification of processing quality using our microfocus X-ray CT system are reported.
