Abstract
As a rehabilitation doctor, the author requests prosthetists/orthotists (1) to communicate well with medical doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, (2) to provide them with abundant information about prostheses and orthoses, and (3) to deal with various kinds of prostheses and orthoses or to provide information on the access to them. Postgraduate education for rehabilitation doctors is related to the board certification system, and the program includes prostheses, orthoses/canes/wheelchairs, and therapeutic/assistive products. It is meaningful that they prepare application documents looking back on their clinical experiences and carry out a wide range of studies, to succeed in the examination for board certification. In addition, it is of much use for them to acquire new knowledge and that out of their own fields through academic meetings or various lectures to extend the board certification.
