Abstract
In Arabidopsis, FT is one of the genes which are located in the most downstream in the regulatory cascade of flowering. FT encodes the protein of PEBP/RKIP family. Transcription of FT is induced in vascular tissues of cotyledon and leaf by long-day photoperiods. In promotion of flowering, FT functions interdependently with another flowering-time gene FD, which is expressed in shoot apex. FT interacts with FD in vitro and in yeast cells. ft; lfy and fd; lfy double mutants are very similar in severe reduction of AP1 mRNA levels and strong defects in floral specification. These facts indicate that FT acts with FD in shoot apex.
To gain clues to the site of the FT action, effects organ/tissue-specific restoration of FT function in ft mutant through expression by various promoters were examined. Results of these analysis will be presented.
