Abstract
The b-ZIP type transcription factor, Repressor of Shoot Growth (RSG) regulates gene expression involving gibberellin biosynthesis. 14-3-3 proteins play important roles in the translocation of RSG between nucleus and cytoplasm. In the last meeting of JSPP, we reported that RSG phosphorylated by CDPK binds to 14-3-3. Recently, it was reported that stress-activated MAP kinases phosphorylate mammal 14-3-3 proteins, in turn, which dessociates from its target of phosphorylated proteins. Accordingly, we examined if plant 14-3-3 proteins are phosphorylated by plant protein kinases, because both plant and mammal 14-3-3 proteins have substrate consensus aminoacid sequenses for proline-directed kinase. Analysis of regulation of plant 14-3-3 proteins by plant protein kinases is in progress.
