Abstract
Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is one of plant defense systems and induced from the pathogen infection part through salicylic acid (SA) accumulation. In Arabidopsis, it is demonstrated that SAR induction is suppressed by environment stress response mediated by abscisic acid (ABA). In this study, the effects of ABA on SAR in tobacco plants were investigated. The resistance against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and the expression of SAR marker gene (PR-1) were induced by BTH and BIT, SAR inducers, however, these were suppressed by ABA treatment. In addition, the accumulation of SA by the BIT treatment was also suppressed by ABA.
