Abstract
A variety of projects concerning science literacy enhancement, such as Super Science High Schools program by MEXT, have been carried out successfully and universities and research institutes have contributed to them. However, as there is discontinuity in science education between high schools and universities, education systems in universities should be designed so that the science education links with the advanced studies and researches by giving young generations who have been inspired by science literacy projects further interest and willingness. To reflect these policies, Ehime University has established a new curriculum which accepts students having a motivation in scientific research and includes several special classes, e.g., basic science classes to learn basic concepts in various fields of science, special English-training courses, special lectures given by staffs in research centers, etc. We can expect that these programs will increase the number of young people who devote their lives to science and technology.
