Abstract
The Plant Organelles Database (PODB; http://podb.nibb.ac.jp/Organellome), which is supported by the joint research project of Organelle Differentiation as the Strategy for Environmental Adaptation in Plants, was built to promote a comprehensive understanding of organelle dynamics. This database consists of 3 individual parts: the organellome database, the functional analysis database, and external links to other databases. The organellome database provides images of various plant organelles that were visualized with fluorescent and nonfluorescent probes. The functional analysis database is a collection of protocols for plant organelle research. All the data and protocols in PODB are populated by direct submission of experimentally determined data from plant researchers. Our database promotes the exchange of information between plant organelle researchers for the comprehensive study of the organelle dynamics in plants. We are currently constructing the next version, which incorporate time-lapse analysis. We would also appreciate contributions of imaging data and protocols from all plant researchers.
