Abstract
Due to recent progress of the rice genome annotation projects, information concerning various biological aspects such as functional annotations of genes and gene products, intron-exon structures, gene expressions by microarray analysis and metabolic pathways is available from various public databases. The collection and collation of rice genomic information undertaken by disparate organizations have resulted in non-uniformity of data registry for, such as gene and probe characters, among databases. This apparently requires a development of a tool with which these major databases can be queried from a single web site. We therefore designed a web-based tool, OryzaExpress that submits user queries to the major rice databases and lists the results on a user's screen. Since the contents of the list are hyper-linked to the original information, the user can subsequently access the detailed information of interest from the original databases and can analyze the data especially for expression profiles in rice.
