Abstract
To understand hormonal status and their functions, we have been using hormone-responsive-marker gene or endogenous hormone analyses. There is no effective approach to assess hormonal status in vivo including sensitivities to hormones in a comprehensive way. Here we attempted to develop a novel method to monitor phytohormone status using transcriptome data. As a part of AtGenExpress project, we have collected data for hormonal response of Arabidopsis seedlings using Affymetrix GeneChip. The data set was used as typical gene expression profiles in response to each hormone and to identify hormone-specific marker genes. Hormone status was assessed by comparing the typical gene expression profiles for each hormone and various expression profiles from the AtGenExpress project. Data sets for experiments of hormone inhibitors, stress treatments, mutants were also used to justify and evaluate results of this analysis.
