Abstract
Omics is an area of research where information of all molecules that living bodies have are exhaustively measured. Omics is to transform the forms of the living bodies existing in the physical world into data of the information world (omics databases). According to the definition by R. Dawkins, the evolution is a phenomenon where individuals having specific genes increase. Omics databases contain comprehensive catalogue information for genes and functions. From them, the only useful genes will be selected (economic selection) and then returned to the physical world by genetic engineering, and consequently, the number of copied genes will be rapidly increased. This is what we call "omics evolution" where natural selection in the physical world and economic selection in the information world contribute to the gene evolution. Omics databases will play very important roles in the process and should be designed from the view point of omics evolution.
