Abstract
In 2000, the entire genome sequence of Arabidopsis has been completely characterized. Genome information creates the huge quantities of useful and desirable information by several omics-based analyses in Arabidopsis. On the other hand, plant research is required to contribute food problem, environmental concerns and energy problems et al. In these circumstances, new approaches to use the Arabidopsis information for crop science are just starting.
In this meeting, we introduce our trial to use the Arabidopsis information for Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa), one of the most important Brassica crop in Asian countries. We are developing the cDNA resources (EST and FL cDNA) from Chinese cabbage, and searching the correspondence relationship between Chinese cabbage clones and Arabidopsis genes. We are also developing the database for systematic consolidation of Chinese cabbage and Arabidopsis (ABRANA : Arabidopsis and BRAssica Network Access). We also refer the current situation of Brassica research in the world.
