Abstract
Plant lipids have an important role in plant life processes, such as membrane component, energy source, signal molecular in stress response, and anti-fungal/bacterial compounds in defense response. Plant lipids are stored in a specific organelle, oil body. It is known that oil bodies in seeds function as energy source for germination. On the other hand, physiological functions of oil bodies in leaves are poorly known. One of homologues of oil-body proteins in seeds is expressed in leaves. We screened mutants which irregularly accumulated the protein in Arabidopsis thaliana. We isolated the three mutants. One of the mutants (#025-681) expressed oil bodies of real leaves in 10 days after germination, while wild type expressed no oil bodies. We have been trying to look for the mutation site.
