Abstract
The field trial for the transgenic poplars was started on March 26, 2007 and finished the trial on December 14, 2011. The transgenic poplars were examined for 4 years in an experimental field. We had confirmed that the transgenic poplars overexpressing xyloglucanase (AaXEG2) did not affected the biological diversity, even when they could be introduced into the confined experimental field.
We tested the existence of transgenes and stability of their expression, the growth and leaf morphology of the poplars, their cell walls, and the allelopathic analysis of the transgenic plants.
