In Japan the application of the photogrammetry is extended up to the surveying of 1: 500 maps for engineeing purposes. In spite of this development, more accuracy is requested to the photogrammetric surveying.
In this review the author examines some basic features which have close relation to improve the precision of the photogrammetric surveying: irregular shrinkage of photographic materials, distortion of lenses and compensating plates, angular field of lenses etc..
In conclusion the anthor recommends to promote the following studies or trials:
a. Calibration of cameras to get higher accuracy and for better maintainance of aerial cameras.
b. Trial use of the plate camera to exclude the effect of the irregulersh riinkage of photographic film.
c. Study of the applicability of the super-wide angle camera to the large scale mapping on condition that the aerial trianglation is executed by the analytical method.
d. Study of the convergent photos to get higher accuracy in height measurement.
e. Study of the applicability of the horizon camera to prepare rectified photographos for the plotting by the 3rd order instrument.
