Abstract
By the Niigata Earthquake of 1964 many reinforced concrete buildings were damaged in the city of Niigata. Most of these damaged buildings were merely settled and/or tilted without any appreciable damage to their superstructure. By means of precise plotting instruments the vectors of tilting of these damged buildings which were rectangular or could be divided into rectangular sections on a plane and were not deformed by damage were measured on the copies of aerial photographs of heavily damaged areas. The accuracy of measurement is good for the height and tilting angle of buildings, but bad for the tilting direction of buildings.
