Abstract
The habitat of Shirosita sole which is a very famous fish in Hiji-machi, Oita Prefecture, is well known to be related with underground water gushing out from the coast line as submarine springs.
The objective of this study is to search the gushing points of submarine springs using satellite remote sensing data of LANDSAT-5/TM thermal infrared (TIR) band which were acquired on MAY 16, 1990.
This band is able to search the gushing points of submarine springs by observing the seasurface temperature distribution.
The result shows that LANDSAT-5/TM TIR of high resolution is effective for surveying fisheries resources habitat.
