This paper describes the lateral-torsional responses in the elastic range of single-story and multi-story buildings with rigidity eccentricity subjected to earthquake ground motion. Firstly, the appropriate parameters for lateral - torsional response are investigated to show the behavior of single-story buildings. Secondly, the dynamic equation of motion for the multi-story buildings with eccentricity is derived. The numerical results by using the modal analysis approach discuss the lateral-torsional responses of five-story buildings under the condition of the overall and partial rigidity eccentricities. Finally, the approximate method for evaluating the lateral-torsional response is proposed on the bases of the comparison with the exact solution.
