Abstract
We report here a case of rectal cancer with obesity and cervical mobile restriction. A 60's-year-old woman admitted to the hospital to undergo abdominoperineal resection of the rectum. Her body mass index was 41. 5% and the movement of her neck was restricted by cervical vertebral deformity and ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament. To form good stoma based on the information at stoma-site marking,we bended her knees during the operation to thicken the abdominal fat, after that we performed colostomy at left lower abdomen. Postoperatively she could not see her stoma because of the cervical mobile restriction. Therefore we recommended her to use a mirror for her stoma care and to exercise with occupational therapists. She could smoothly perform self-care of stoma without severe troubles.
