Abstract
This study is an attempt to realize both volume reduction and comfortableness of car seat by using a new material and structure. At first, evaluation items for car seat were extracted by brainstormihg and survey of ergonomics' studies. Next, the hierarchical structure of the evaluation items was made by the DEMATEL method. The relation between the requirement items in designing the car seat was clarified by the method of pair comparisons in AHP. The result of this analysis made it clear that mesh was suitable material for realizing the volume reduction and comfortableness. Finally, the functional model was made and it was confirmed that mesh meets the requirements.
