Abstract
This paper briefly describes some features of Isotype as a graphic method, from the following three points of view : 1)history of graphic method from 18c.onwards 2)two types of graphic methods : nomothetic/ideographic 3)social uses : scientific use/educational use Historically Isotype as "pictogram" is not original. But the some specific features are pointed out through a case study.
