Abstract
This paper analyzes the actual role of resident participation in the educational activity of museum. The result can be given as follows : (1)It has confirmed from the investigation of 428 museums that 25% of them engage the exhibition activites and 30% of them engage the research activities. (2)There are about a half of them which give the residents a great chance to participate in active way. However, to stimulate the resident participation, the museum's management still have several problems, such as : the lack of staffs or facilities, and mismanagement. On the other hand, the residents have also the insufficient of knowledge and awareness towards the museum's activities. (3)Considering that these problems shall be prioritized to be solved, it is necessary for the museum to stimulate the 'active participation' of residents in order to get more visitors or participants.
