The Method of Evaluating Icon based on Agreement Level with Design Concept Intended for Mobile Phone

Abstract

Each manufacturer starts up the concept according to the design strategy, and designs the mobile phone based on the concept. And many of mobile phones put on the market in Japan use a graphic icon now. However, the limitation of the graphic design such as icons is less than that of hardware, and these are designed freely by designerʼs sense. Then, This paper proposes the method of evaluating the agreement level of icons with the concept by AHP. In the use of AHP, this evaluation method enabled feedback to an actual design expression by hierarchizing the agreement level.I experimented for existing products.In the result, the experiment showed that there is va-lidity in this method.
