Abstract
In our previous research, an evaluation standard of "Pleasantness" which is critical in the internal landscape (the viewpoint from the driver) was constructed for local road. When this standard was applied to a model case made by CG animation, the comparison had been done between the result and the subjectivity evaluation. A feature, that the subjectivity evaluation tends decreasing, was found in the driving section with little change on the landscape.
This decreased tendency is considered caused by the "boredom" emotional phenomenon. To reduce the influence of the "boredom", a subjectivity evaluation experiment concerning the effect of the side planting was carried out in this study. The result of the present experiment shows, various planting species and different planting intervals can bring remarkable different effect. Also, to ease the boredom, considerations combined both of the above two means (for example, the mix type of tall tree with wide planting intervals arranged at random) give the relatively strong stimulations and was considered to be most effective.
From above discussions, it was clarified that the "habituation-dishabituation" phenomenon in the cognitive psychology also took part in the road landscape. In addition, though the model case study verifications, the effectiveness of the "moderate random simulation " in the improvements of the sequence landscape was confirmed.
