Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors which influence the perception of "tactile sense of convexoconcave”. Subjects make estimates of tactile convexoconcave of acrylic plate with grooved surface under the condition of passive-dynamic touch. The results of these experiments show that groove depth, groove width, speed, fingertip force and existence of turn have an effect on tactile convexoconcave perception. Especially “groove depth”, ”groove width” and ”fingertip force” were the crucial factors. We found the fact that a designer can manipulate tactile sense of convexoconcave not only by groove depth but also groove width.
