Abstract
Italic type is a cursive typeface of European language. It’s widely used in Western countries mainly for quotation and emphasis. However, there’s no italic type in Chinese, which may lead to communication gap in text. This paper compares classical European italic types with tradition Chinese types through survey and semantic differential analysis. The result shows the feature image of italic types and their difference between Chinese types. In the end, some trial Chinese italic types are given.
