Abstract
This research reports on three case studies of renovating vacant properties, for the purpose of building renovation and community revitilization. Case study 1 proposes the renovation of old traditional Japanese house (Minka), to be used as a day service center for the elderly, and as an event space for use on weekends. Case study 2 addresses the renovation of an inner city apartment to be rented out to the poor. Case study 3 on Community Healthcare and Renovation of Vacant Properties. To solve the problems of a declining population and aging society, alternative housing and living will lead to research which focuses on improved regional town planning.
