Abstract
Munekichi Tsukishima was very interested in design and construction of European furniture. His strong passion towards the furniture design and construction flows out from his furniture drawings, which were published in "Kagu Seisaku Zukai," and "Wayo Kagu Kouzou Zukai" and "Koten Kagu Syasei Zushu." In terms of the design, he was interested in Classical Style, which he meant Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neo-classical Style. As for the construction, he was interested in builtup structure. Those wide interests derived from his background. He not only studied and taught furniture, but he was also engaged in real furniture design business in Japan and the U.S. throughout prewar and postwar periods.
