Abstract
Meanings that interpreters found from a sensory stimulus provided by artifacts may vary depending on their knowledge and their context. For example, a vehicle engine sound may mean powerful accelerations for a driver, but annoying noise for neighborhoods. Our motivation is to provide designers the exhaustive meanings of such sensory stimulus in early stage of design. In this paper, we proposed a novel framework for structuring semantics of artifacts’ sensory information, and exhaustive categories of meanings. With the framework, we developed a methodology for semantic deployments of artifacts’ sensory information. We further proposed the outlook of design support tool of sensory information based on the methodology.
